It all started with Bonnie Low, an everyday Asian girl living in a bustling metropolis. When she was younger, Bonnie had skin issues that prevented her from being able to use conventional skincare products. Because of her sensitive skin, she had very limited options other than the medicinal skincare products she was prescribed to. While it did keep her rashes and eczema at bay, it was also making her skin dry and dull.

Wondering why conventional skincare products don’t work on her, Bonnie started to read the ingredients and labels of each product. She learned about what they do and how they are made. Bonnie soon found that the ingredients used in many skincare brands have a lot of synthetics and toxins. Things like phthalates, parabens, and distillates are known to cause problems to skin cells and disrupt water retention.

Bonnie realises that the secret to good skincare isn’t jamming too many ingredients into one product. Instead, skincare should use minimal but effective ingredients derived from nature. It should also focus on hydrating the skin for it will promote a glowing natural beauty. Determined to fill this gap, Bonnie set off in search for the perfect skincare.

She went to Taiwan and discovered amazing things about the T-beauty industry. The Taiwanese put a high emphasis on using fresh and natural ingredients in their skincare solutions, along with the importance of hydration. They also believe in a minimal and short skincare routine that still works. This has led to a technology that marries the art of skincare to the science of its formulation, a trend that is thriving in the island nation.

For 3 years, Bonnie worked with dermatologists and beauty experts to come up with a niche skincare that uses natural ingredients, safe for everyone to use and saves time to apply. Armed with the mantra that skincare shouldn’t be complicated, and it should not harm the skin nor the environment, Bonnie set to work.

Thus, the first Byme prototype was created; a toxin-free skin essence that works as a toner and serum. It works effectively and produces less waste! Today, you can own one as Byme Radiant Glow Skin Essence. And after the encouraging feedback she received, Bonnie went on to develop the second product, a gentle makeup remover which is now Byme Radiant Glow Gentle Cleansing Water.

What was before shared with a small number of friends and family, Byme Skincare today has expanded with an official range of products that takes only 4+1 steps for a complete skincare routine.
